As we are eleven days into the new year, you should already have a strategy for the year to come. If not, don’t be discouraged. There is always time to regroup & revamp. Here are some helpful hints to get you on track for a productive, successful year.

Take note of your past and use it to your advantage in the future.

My mother was notorious for saying the only way to move forward is to never look back. I appreciate the advice mom, but it is actually very helpful in the world of marketing. Look at where your business is at today. What did you do last year to get you where you are? Are you happy? Do you see where your company is lacking? Use your strengths as a platform and your weaknesses as opportunities. Trial and error is the only way to determine success.

Never be afraid to ask questions.

In fact, this is encouraged. Always ask questions about your company. What makes your company stand above its competitors? Why should I use your services? Where do you see your business in five years? It’s always good to ask these questions because truth be told, your current clients and prospects are asking the same thing… and also, it will always keep you on your toes looking for ways to improve your products and services.

Shop the competition.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence right? Wrong. Your grass is plenty green and do you know why? You’re always looking for ways to improve your metaphorical yard. See what others are doing. Read information about their company, their services, see what works from them and If you like what you see, put your spin on it.

Never settle.

Although you may be content with your business today, always be on the lookout for improvements. The world changes every day. If it didn’t we would still have “mom and pop” shops rather than national chains. If you’re reluctant to use the internet for marketing purposes because it’s a “fad”… you should really reconsider your thought process. I read a study that said even 50% of senior citizens use the internet for information. Stay educated on social media, Google, SEO tips, SEM because it will only help you in the future.
